Whenever I find myself struggling to design or redesign a web site, I always spend a day searching for similarly themed sites. I take inspiration from their appearance and functionality. I have definately strayed away from design in recent years. I prefer to be involved in making sites more interactive, useful and more search engine friendly. As far as creating something new goes, we all wish we could channel Mark Zuckerberg's spirit animal. However, if you consider that Mr. Z himself only improved and expanded upon a concept that many universities were already using, you realize that creating something entirely new to the Internet might not be necessary in order to win fame and fortune. We simply need to find something someone is already doing, and do it better, or modify it to serve a different audience. I know how you feel.
